Bicycle Friendly University Application

Bicycle Friendly University Application The University of Maryland is in the process of applying for designation with the League of American Bicyclists (LAB) as a Bicycle Friendly University. The application process offers an opportunity to reflect on the services and conditions that exist on campus regarding bicycling. It will also create a natural peer group and a set of benchmarks to understand how our campus compares to other campuses across the nation. We are excited to begin this process and we are optimistic about our prospects. As part of the launch of this new category of the Bicycle Friendly America set of awards, representatives from LAB, bike Maryland, local corporations, communities, and universities met on campus last week. The LAB gave a presentation about the 5 E’s, Education, Engineering, Enforcement, Evaluation and Encouragement. This framework helps to define the scope of measurement as well as goal setting.
