Maryland’s 2010 annual Bicycle Friendly State ranking is 11th!

The League of American Bicyclists’ annual Bicycle Friendly State Ranking is announced and Maryland’s 2010 annual Bicycle Friendly State ranking is 11th !. Last year Maryland ranked 16th. In each of the 6 categories state of Maryland ranked:

1st in Policies & Programs
6th in Education & Encouragement
9th in Infrastructure
24th in Evaluation & Planning
33rd in Legislation
36th in Enforcement

Maryland has also received an Honorable Mention for the Bicycle Friendly State designation. Three states have been awarded the Bicycle Friendly State designation and three states received an Honorable Mention – Oregon (Silver), Delaware (Bronze), New Jersey (Bronze), Florida (Honorable Mention), Maryland (Honorable Mention) and Massachusetts (Honorable Mention). Congratulations to these states for demonstrating strong commitments to bicycling, and offering best practices !
